1. because without knowledge of tawheed and shirk we are at risk of falling into it. we do not recognise what nullifies our shahadah. We might be doing an act of shirk for which this sin is so grave will never be forgived by Allah except if we repent when we are still alive. May Allah protect us. May Allah forgive us from shirk that we know and we do not know..

1. Why are the knowledge of tawheed and shirk more important than knowledge about prayer/fasting?
Worship is not considered worship except with tawhid like salah is not acceptable salah except with taharah. So if shirk enters into worship it is not accepted, just as impurity destroys purity if it enters into it.
So if you know that when shirk is mixed with worship, the worship is not accepted and destroys the action thus making the person acting upon it from the people who will permanently be in Hellfire then you will realise that it is the most important topic for you to study. (answer verbatim from the sheikhs' writing).
2. What is the meaning of haneefiyyah?
The religion of Ibraheem, that you worship Allah alone and make the religion purely for Him.
3. Worship needs 2 conditions to be accepted. What are they?

1. Ikhlas (the first part of the shahadah La ilaha illaLlah)
2. Mutaba'ah asSunnah - following the sunnah of the Messenger SAW (Muhammadur Rasulullah)
If none or only one of the conditions are met, the deed is not accepted.
Example: If someone makes tawaf 10 times around the Ka'abah even if he does it sincerely and for love of Allah, this act will not be accepted, he performed a bid'ah and is sinful.

5. State 3 dangers of shirk
- the unforgivable sin
"Indeed, Allah does not forgive shirk with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills" (AnNisa 116)
- enter Hellfire
"Whoever commits shirk with Allah, then Allah has made Paradise prohibited for him, his abode will in the Fire" (alMaidah 72)
- destroys all of the person's deeds (just as breaking one's wudhu' during prayer would nullify one's prayer)- And "indeed it has been revealed to you and to the Prophets before you that if you commit shirk, then all of your deeds will be destroyed and you will be among the losers" (azZumar 65)

Because the only had tawhid in rububiyah but still worshipped idols as mediums thus not having tawhid in uluhiyyah. To be a Muslim, one must have tawhid in rububiyah, uluhiyah and asma was sifat.
This is an important concept because it means it is not enough just to admit that Allah is God, the creator, the sustainer, the ruler. But he is the only God to be worshipped and none other.
7. There are two types of intercession (shafa'ah). Affirmed (permissible) and Invalid. Explain.

Affirmed intercession is intercession that is asked from Allah and is something that only Allah can do.
Invalid intercession is that which is asked from other than Allah e.g. from the grave dweller, trees, stones, saints and by a person who Allah has not permitted to make intercession.
Intercession is a way that Allah honours His slaves; it is not anyone's right or privilege. And intercession is asked from Allah, not from others.
8. What are the two conditions of the affirmed intercession?
1. that Allah has given permission for the person to make intercession
"Who is there that can intercede with Him, except by His permission?" (AlBaqarah 254)
e.g. Allah permits the shuhada' on the day of Judgment to intercede on behalf of a number of people that they choose
2. The person on being interceded upon must be among the people of tawhid.
"And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will be of no use whatsoever, except after Allah grants permission to whomever He wills and is pleased (with the person being interceded for)." (An-Najm 26)
E.g. The sinner can be interceded upon as long as he has tawhid.

Because the mushrik of previous generations they would only associate other gods with Allah in times of ease whereas if calamity befell them they would ask only to Allah.
"And when they board a ship, they supplicated to Allah, sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivered them to land, at once they associate others with Him" (AlAnkabut: 65)
Whereas the mushrik of today associate other deities with Allah in times of ease and hardship.
