Kinder Update

Layth is not going to kinder this week because he's been unwell. His temperature was above 40 and he has a barking cough. OMG, super clingy too.

Because of the freak thunderstorm last week, his kinder was flooded so they had to only use a few rooms and there was a huge blower machine trying to blow the carpets dry.

We get regular newsletters from the kinder which tells us what their activities were. They had been learning about recycling and garden insects.

The kinder wanted a bilingual support worker to help with Layth so they can understand him better. Kitorang setuju aje la though I doubt the need for it. I told them he understands English. But they said they want to understand him because he sometimes asks in Bahasa Melayu.

The funny thing is the support worker is a chinese malaysian. With the exception of TV3 newscasters, you know how "extra-baku" their Malay is. (Can't blame them; not their mother tongue anyways). I hope Layth doesn't pick up that accent in his Malay. Urgh.

We were told that Layth has started to play with 1-2 of the other kids. Slow but good start. He's still shy of other kids. His speech is more confident now. He can tell his own stories.

(Right) Layth pointing to the clock that his teacher always uses to tell him when Ummi/Baba is going to pick him up hehehe. (Notice that he always screws his eyes as if focusing to a far object when pointing to something - cracks me up all the time!)

Very soon Layth can tell the time already. I like the regular updates to parents. We don't have that here.

Common mistakes my children made in BM - they write in street language. 'Nak', 'Mau', 'Main' instead of 'bermain'. Naim pernah tulis 'Dia orang'. So probably ada la baiknya kot kalau Layth bercakap bahasa baku.

hihihih... pelik.

I like that kind of kindy, regular updates, learn through play. Over here lots of kindy apply Montessori method but I doubt they apply 100%.

Can't wait to enrol Aidan to British owned kindy and he's still on waiting list...huhuh..
