Layth @ Kinder

This is a bunch of photos that Layth took using the digital camera. Interesting perpective isn't it. Notice the finger in the viewfinder! LOL

Layth has spent 4 days in kinder for the past 2 weeks. He still cries in the morning when we drop him off. Very miserable fellow. On one day the teacher said he was upset the whole time. Other times he seems happy. But he is most happy playing alone, they said. He is anxious when they are other kids around; especially a crowd of them during storytime and singtime.

Despite the tears and anxiety, there has been some positive changes that I've noticed. When I picked him up he would cry and cling to me again but he would look at his teacher's face and wave goodbye (usually he's too shy to do this and hides his face). He would say "Bye" to the other kids (whom he calls "fwens" and wave enthusiastically. (He doesn't really have any friends yet - too scared coz they're all bigger than him but he calls other kids "fwens"). He also talks a lot when we go home. Bla bla bla. Anything he can think of.

In the car right after picking him up:

Layth: Ummi Layth pakai seatbelt nanti polis car datang polis marah. Baba mana? Baba gi shopping.
Ummi: Baba gi shopping? Taklah. Baba gi kerja.
Layth: Baba gi kerja. Kat hospital. ada amulans (ambulance). Baba mana? Baba gi shopping.
Ummi: Baba gi shopping apa?
Layth: Baba shopping coke, buah, mips(chips), cwips (crisps). Baba bayar

I chuckle to myself. It really is very amusing.

He learnt "Wait for me" and "Bye see ya!" from kinder methinks. Coz we didn't teach him that hehehehe. He's singing songs by himself (wah!) like Open Shut Them and Twinkle Little Star accompanied by gestures too! At home he only knew how to sing London Bridge and Incy Wincy Spider.

The teacher said he can go to the toilet by himself now. Though sometimes at home he prefers to act helpless to gain attention. He whines a bit - as if he can't take off his pants to pee (but I know he can) and pretends to need help.

Hopefully he will settle in soon, inshaAllah. The teacher said he would probably benefit from playing by himself now and then they will introduce a friend or two gradually so as not to overwhelm him.

auwww..masa nael joined playdates when he was 2+, he would hug me tight and sometimes i could see he's holding back his tears..itu pun once a week thingy.

and now i'm nervous to send aidan, don't know how he'll react.

but overall i guess they enjoy being with their new fwens and activities do help. i think tak lama lagi, layth will overcome his fear.

it's more of a social test than it is technical/knowledge test for now... : )
