The most exasperating thing happened to me.
I had this 19 year old girl who overdose herself with her antidepressant medications. Anyway, she was reviewed by Psychiatry in ED but no-one knew if she was cleared or not by them for discharge.
Yesterday, her nurse pestered me to call the Psych team and gave me a phone number (and a name) to call. I said okay I'll call the team who reviewed her. I called the number. The named man picked it up and said "Yes, yes, Psych team. No she wasn't cleared by the Psych team". Okay so we have to keep her in for another night for Psych team to review the next day (today).
In the morning I texted the phone number twice to remind the Psych team to come and review the patient. Poor girl; she's well and healthy but has to wait for the team to come and see her!
All was well until the patient's dad came to visit. He told the Head Nurse someone had texted him twice to tell him to review his daughter.
Ya Allah! Sabar aje la!
1. Stupid nurse for giving me the dad's phone number!!
2. Stupid me for not re-checking the number!!
3. Stupid dad for claiming to be the Psych doctor?!?!
Due to the stupidity of everyone and the Psych team not providing a good, definitive documentation; the girl had to stay one more extra night wasting time and resources!
This, my friends, is what you call a misunderstanding. And it's quite common in the hospital setting. Only it just happened to me.

Tak apalah bolehlah jugak girl tu duduk hospital and do some self reflection. tee he he. Patut bawak dia pergi tour kat mortuary ke apa

i called him and said "Are you *** (name) from psych team?" he said "yes yes erm psych". rasa nak ketuk kepala pakcik tu. in retrospect i suppose he thought i was saying I'm from Psych. i did think he sounded a bit daft on the phone yesterday. i was thinking "peliknya psychiatrist ni..cam blur2 aje". LOL now we know
lollies- hmm itu la. takkan setiap benda nak check kan. sometimes kene trust the nurses to do their job properly lah. kan dah susah cam ni. ingatkan bila dia suruh kita buat kerja tu dia kasi kita the right info la!
hmmph budak tu takde nya self reflection. attention seeker betul. amik drug overdose sbb jeles ngan kakak dia sbb the dad bought a tv for the older sister. katanya bapaknya tak sayang dia. it seems to me like a child tantrum aje. but taking overdose instead of screaming. because of this overdose the father ofkos la pay attention. kira cam rewarding the behaviour aje. next time sure budak tu overdose lagi.

haah doktor la kene jawab semuanya. frustrating. i paling tak suka bila nurse tak agree dengan treatment plan pas tu tak nak buat apa yg disuruh! memandai aje
that was very funny! BTW i empathise with the dad...medical/hospital situations can be very daunting. i suppose he was a bit apprehensive as to what he should do (i would be too).
