Layth's new crazes

Since we got Foxtel (= Astro in Malaysia), Layth has had exposure to new programs besides his regular Australian ones. So he has new interests now (yeay!!). He doesn't like the Wiggles anymore. He likes Imagination Movers; which I think is a better version of the Wiggles. A bunch of men acting silly and singing kiddie songs. But at least their outfit, songs, dancing are a bit more "manly" than the Wiggles hehehe. We like to air guitar to the theme songs. Well, Layth likes to air-guitar. He wants me to play the imaginary drums.

Give and take, he also likes Dora the Explorer. Huhu. I find it quite annoying; especially the songs.Plus it also teaches Spanish so we're picking up these Spanish words (which we don't need). Vamos explora Dora. muchas gracias. But he's also learning lots of English from this show too.



But the one I find most annoying is Special Agent Oso. Bosannya! But Layth likes it. The plot is ALWAYS the same. Oso is doing a training exercise of some mundane skill (like folding a piece of paper) then he gets called to a 'special assignment' where he helps kids with other mundane tasks (like brushing their teeth or wrapping a gift). Then the same songs are sung all the time and lots of repetitive lines ...adoi.

The things that make it annoying and boring for adults is exactly the reason why kids like it and why it helps them pick up language. Repetitiveness is the key.
