Alhamdulillah I passed semester 5 of my students guild studies. Now they're calling it "term" instead of semesters. Okay, so term 6 is starting this week. We've finished Bulugh Al-Maram for now (book of ibaadah) and stopping it to study other books. InshaAllah Bulugh Al-Maram's Book of Muamalah & Jinaayah will be continued in the future.
This term we're finishing Kitab At-Tawheed and starting Umdatul Fiqh (subject matter: Fiqhul Mazhab Hanbali) InshaAllah.

Taboo word
At work, "quiet" is considered a taboo word. You can't say it because everyone believes that once you say "It's quiet now isn't it", soon after that it will get very busy.
If you say the word "quiet", people will either tell you off or say "touch wood" or "Don't jinx the shift!"
I think this has an element of shirk in it.
Personally I believe that if someone says "Alhamdulillah it's quiet" then we are being grateful for being given a reprieve. But if you say it in an ungrateful tone, then of course after that things will become busier.

Frustrated
I can't talk about my work anymore. I really hate it. It's very frustrating dealing with some types of people.
1. Drug addicts or drug seekers i.e. pretending to have an ailment so they can get some morphine or pethidine
2. Hypochondriacs ... there is nothing wrong with you!
3. Chronic whingers... they complain about everything, never mind the fact that so much has been done for them...they always have something they're not happy with. It's like they won't be happy unless they're unhappy.
4. Doctor shoppers...always wanting the second opinion.
5. STUPID DRUNKEN IDIOTS

Tips from Layth
How to play Hide & Seek
1. Always hide at the same place 3 times in a row
2. Giggle loudly at your hiding place
3. When the seeker shouts out "Where are you???", tell them where you are e.g. "Under the blanket!"
4. When you're IT, go start seeking before you finish counting to ten.
5. Have lots of fun

Health and other stuff
I walk to and from work these days. Most of the time. I intend it as gentle exercise even though technically I'm not even breaking a sweat. I don't feel like riding the bike because I know my stamina is so low now that if I did ride uphill, I'd vomit from excessive anaerobic respiration.
I do have to leave the house earlier though.
I seem to be developing hay fever symptoms. Sneezing throughout the day, watery itchy eyes and perpetual runny nose. It has been a bit dusty around this area. Pollen everywhere. Is it pollen though. Sometimes I think they are bugs.
Usually when I sneeze I have to brace my back (i.e contract the muscles) so that it's not painful. But because I've been sneezing so much sometimes I forget to brace my back. Like today. So when I sneezed violently, I did my back in. Adoi! It's a good thing I bring panadol every where I go.

Kinder hunting
Since knowing that Layth's Monash kinder is closing down for good, my head has been spinning about which kinder Layth should go to next year. He's not eligible for the government funded 4 year old kinder (because of his age) and the due date for that was last April anyway.
I went through a list of kindergartens around the area. Most of them I crossed off due to location. Most were out of the way, some required going through Frankston town (nightmare traffic!). In the end, there were only 4 kinders shortlisted. Gulp.
The first 2 did not have any vacancies or only accepted children allocated by the city council.
The third one had vacancies (phew) so I went and visited it. The building looked old and the interior was dark..the staff looked sleepy and not energetic/unsmiling. The director looked like she didn't bother to brush her hair that morning. It didn't seem very child safe (stairs to the entrance & no security door/fence). The fees were cheap though.
I decided to settle for it and went home to fill the enrolment form. But I started to have second thoughts. It was less than satisfactory after all. Huhu. I wouldn't mind spending more to have better quality facilities.
I knew it was a long shot but the next kinder on my list was a famous franchise kinder so was unlikely to have vacant spots. I gave it a go anyway. Called them up and they say they have vacancies! Alhamdulillah.
Visited the centre with Layth today. It was awesome!! The interior was well lit with natural light, decorated with colourful things, had nice selection of toys, the staff wore brightly coloured shirts and were friendly and exuberant. Each age range had their own playground area.
So, InshaAllah Layth will be going to that kinder next year. We still have to be on a waiting list but the director told me that they will try to accommodate all the families affected from Monash kinder closing down.
I breathed a sigh of relief. Nothing's confirmed yet but at least we have a clear picture about what we're going to do next year bi iznillah.

Lack of..
I miss having friends.
The only social interaction I have with my friends are on Facebook, an occasional chat in the corridor at work or by SMS/email.
It's difficult to make friends outside of work because of our working hours. Friendship requires work in itself. It needs sustenance just like everything else.
I have some friends from AlKauthar but we only see each other once in 3 months; if I could attend a course anyways.
I've been planning to visit my friends for a while but either lack of mutual days off and poor health would not see that plan come to fruition.
Maybe we should organise a get-together for Eidul Adha.

Dialogues
Ummi: *clearing throat*
Layth: Why Ummi makes *throat-clearing sound*?
Ummi: Ummi sakit tekak
Layth: (turns solemn) Okay, let see. Say Aaaaa please.
Ummi: Hahaha
Layth: C'mon say Aaaaaa
Ummi opens mouth and says Aaaa
Layth: Yes, I can see red there. Ummi kene makan ubat please.
Layth nagging for Fireman Sam merchandise.
Ummi: Takde kat Australia, ada kat England je.
Layth: (......) Jom gi England!
Ummi: Jauhlah...so far away.
Layth: Boleh naik super fast car
Ummi: No kene naik plane. Mahal. Takde duit.
Layth: Ada la duit. In Baba's pocket.
Ummi: Tak cukup la.
Layth then goes around the house picking up coins.

Youth
is wasted on the young.
But then I'm only biased. I see odd, irresponsible teens/young adults with behavioural issues. I'm sure there are a lot of promising teens/youth out there.
But the ones I see... are really hopeless. When I see them I think of myself or my friends/family members at that age. I hope my parents realise how good, responsible and reliable we are! LOL
I also can't stand the young people who shout, scream and whine and swear and throw tantrums (!!!!) because they've got pain. It's disproportionate to the pain. We know they're exaggerating because we've seen people with actual severe pain.
Why can't they have some dignity. Crying and carrying on dramatically while we're just pulling off tape from your arm does not get you any sympathy. If you're like this at the age of 20 from tape being pulled off your arm, then you're not gonna be happy with life, are you. There's more pain to be experienced as we age to be sure.
I've made the conclusion that people who make lots of fuss usually have nothing wrong with them. But the quiet sufferers are the ones who have something wrong.

| New sunhat & sunglasses |
It's nice to have sunny days again. We can go out more often and do outdoor activities instead of watching TV in the house aje.
Layth and me went to the beach today after going shopping for his clothes. He needs new clothes and a sunhat (already! rasa cam baru je beli baju a few months ago) because he's outgrown his clothes. Senteng belaka.
Layth chose his own clothes. Lawak la dia. Becok betul...shopping baju pun cerewet ha ha ha!
It feels nice to be able to afford new clothes for Layth. Previously all his clothes (from when he was born) came from Savers (2nd hand store) or gifts from family. Alhamdulillah for such blessings.
